Just what the industry needs . . . ANOTHER GIFT SHOW! Well, we believe that the souvenir resort industry does need a "Gatlinburg Gift Show" experience out west. Smoky Mountain Gift Show management is proud to announce the first annual Rocky Mountain Gift Show to be held at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah February 14 - 17, 2009. After considering several sites, Salt Lake City was chosen for it's unique environment. Salt Lake City is best described as a major metropolis disguised as a 'quaint mountain town with a really big back yard". The Salt Palace is located 10 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport which has over 800 flights per day, many non-stop from all U.S. major cities. It is ranked #1 in the nation for on-time arrivals and departures. Getting in & out could not be easier. The convention center is one of the largest and most beautiful convention centers in the West. With over 7,323 convention district hotel rooms, walking to the show is an easy stroll, just like in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Just like The Smoky Mountain Gift Show in Gatlinburg, attendees of The Rocky Mountain Gift Show in Salt Lake City will have a leisurely stroll to over 140 restaurants and cafes in the downtown area, over 50 of those Zagat-rated restaurants. There are over 35 nightspots for those with any extra energy after the show. Getting to the city and around the city is really easy, whether walking or riding the light rail system. All the shopping and in-city activities give Salt Lake a great city feel without the extreme hustle and bustle you get in some other major cities. The fact that you can be in the mountains in mere minutes from getting into your car is awesome!! Indeed, you can enjoy a morning of skiing and an afternoon of golf while attending the show. There are 30 golf courses and seven major ski resorts within 30 minutes of the convention district. Salt Lake City sits in a valley and its February average precipitation is 1.6" with daytime temps in the low 50's. The mountains get lots snow and the valley gets lots of sun!!! So, just as during The Smoky Mountain Gift Show in Gatlinburg, TN during November, attendees of The Rocky Mountain Gift Show will be able to combine business with a pleasure trip. Our goal is to provide buyers with the same high quality vendors that come to Tennessee. We realize that smaller retailers out west have not been able to budget buying trips to Tennessee. We hope to provide the buyers and vendors with the same family reunion atmosphere that is experienced in Gatlinburg.
